Abstract

It is with deep sadness that we offer our memorial on the unexpected demise of our
dear colleague, Professor Gjumrakch Aliev. He passed away in December 2020. He was 62.
Professor Aliev left us far too early. He had many projects underway that he looked
forward to completing to better serve the world and all of its people. The scientific
community has lost a bright, multidisciplinary scientist who could connect people withsimilar research interests across borders and continents.
