Abstract
The Kelly Hill Caves precinct (KHC) has been earmarked for a tourist centre redevelopment as outlined in a report published by Flightpath Architects (2006). This report has been Commissioned in line with the recommendations in the Flightpath Architects (2006) redevelopment report requesting that a hydrological study of surface water and groundwater movement around the site be conducted.
Currently KHC captures and stores water on site for all it needs. This includes rainwater tanks for drinking supplies and a dam on the western side of the site for toilets, showers and the local Country Fire Service. There is no mains water or bore water connected to the site. Due to extended dry periods over summer and autumn when runoff is frequently negligible, it is necessary to store a large volume of water for operation of amenities at the site.
