Abstract

This chapter seeks to describe, classify and explain intestinal failure, not as an exhaustive reference work but as a brief review of a vastly complex and variable clinical phenomenon. This is often managed by surgeons, especially in rural areas, but sometimes needs referral for specialist management that sometimes continues over a lifetime.
