Abstract


This chapter introduces the themes of the book and provides a brief history of both fascism and anti-fascism in Australia, emphasising that the emergence of fascist and far right movements in Australian history have always been met with opposition and resistance in various forms. This introductory chapter also outlines the existing literature on fascism and anti-fascism in Australia, noting the scholarship that exists in the fields of history, political science, sociology, as well as activist and journalist accounts. Lastly, the chapter gives a summary of the chapters within the book.
