Abstract
In this brief introduction, the aims of the book are set out. It also includes some structural information about how to navigate the book. Although it avoids any historical positioning of Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest, it discusses the rise of “Eurovision Studies” scholarship in Australia, and the particular conditions that have given rise to the set of interdisciplinary scholarship published in the volume. It contextualises each chapter’s place within the wider volume. Finally, the chapter sets out the central conceit of the book: that a single-nation perspective on a multinational event can generate unique insight.
