Abstract
The over-arching theme of this special issue is to understand the political phenomena of Labor governments at the state level in Australia. In doing so, it also examines aspects of wider Australian politics, such as the changing dynamics of Australian federalism. The concern is to ask: “What is ‘Labor’ about state Labor?”, and the four articles all tackle this question in different ways.
