It’s our fading dream too: Australia’s stake in America’s decay

It has become awfully trendy to attack mainstream media. Back when I was young, we used to attack mainstream music and film in more or less the same way. Well, I didn’t. I unironically loved Spice World… but there were people in my orbit who were too cool for pretty much everything. They get sadder as they get older.

The flaws of mainstream media have been highlighted by Matt Taibbi and others, and with biased operators like Murdoch lurking behind the curtain there is certainly a sympathetic argument for why vigilance and checking multiple sources is a necessary part of contemporary debate...
