Jack's daughter: Growing up German in World War II Broken Hill

Research output: Contribution to specialist publicationBook/Film/Article review

Abstract

Many readers will be familiar with Christine Ellis’ first book Silver Lies, Golden Truths, published by Wakefield Press in 2015, which tells the story of the author’s grandfather Reinhold Schuster. Jack, as he was known, was a German-born miner who, although he avoided internment, nonetheless was exposed to the anti-German prejudice which manifested itself – sometimes violently – during the First World War.
