The South Australian Ministerial Advisory Committee: Students with Disabilities (MAC: SWD) has had a focus on the topic of mental health for children and students with disability since 2006. Disability: Evaluation Report in 2010. The latter focused on the effect of KidsMatter Primary on South Australian students with a disability. In this context, the South Australian Minister for Education and Child Development, gave approval to MAC: SWD to build on their previous work and undertake the KidsMatter Early Childhood for Children with Disability project to determine the effect of the KMEC initiative for children with disability as a specific cohort.
The KidsMatter national partners where approached and permission was granted to undertake an Australia-wide analysis of the KMEC data to report on the effect of the KMEC initiative for young children with disability, with the understanding that South Australian data would be a subset of this larger study.
