Abstract
It is with interest that we read the January publication of the Journal of
Research in Nursing, and we would like to address two issues that were
raised (Corner, 2009; Bishop, 2009).
Professor Corner’s commentary: ‘Harnessing technology to improve support for people with cancer’ (Corner, 2009) calls for nurses and social scientists to “create new architectures for providing care and support to people, and in particular to harness the opportunities brought by information technologies”. With this in mind we draw attention to the Australian Palliative Care Knowledge Network project, being implemented by the Department of Palliative and Supportive Services at Flinders University, South Australia. Commissioned by the Australian Government, the project has created the CareSearch Web site, an online resource for those providing palliative care and those affected by the need for palliative care (http://www.caresearch.com.au).
