Life after embryo transfer

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter includes clinical cases, background, evidence-based practical management options, preventive measures, key-point summaries of embryo transfer (ET) and answers to questions patients ask. IVF is an expensive and stressful treatment with a very important potential outcome. As a result, a very common question raised by patients at the time of ET is what they should do to maximize their chances of having a child. It is common for patients to enquire about what they should do during IVF treatment to increase the chances of success. Questions relating to physical activity, sexual intercourse, stress, diet and work following ET are all very common. Therefore, it is advisable for ART clinics to be proactive and educate their patients - both verbally and in writing - about these issues early in the IVF treatment journey.
