    Abstract

Our approach to the rehabilitation of lymphoedema patients is holistic. The programme involves a team of experts across a wide range of discipline areas. Besides physiotherapeutic treatment of oedema, we take account of the occupational, social and psychological aspects in the treatment of the patients. The physiotherapeutic programme is based on anatomical, physiological and pathophysiological knowledge about the structure and functioning of the lymphatic system as well as on the results of clinical research. The non-invasive treatment methods described are those performed by nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
