Abstract

In this profile written to accompany the 2015 season of Angela Beitzein's play Mortido at Sydney's Belvoir Theatre, the figure of the child on stage is introduced as a locus of anxiety in the production. The profile goes on to detail the changes to the script that were required by the New South Wales Office of Children's Guardianship, and reveals that "during the season, when backstage , the wear headphones to insulate them from the play's content all of which would usually be audible via the backstage sound system."...
