Abstract

Migration creates significant life changes for migrants, influenced by various factors that differ among cultures. One area that undergoes significant change is marital relationships. Iranians, balancing tradition and modernity, navigate challenges and opportunities in migration. This review examines studies of post-migration experiences of Iranian migrants, focusing on marital relationships. Thematic analysis was employed to synthesize the data and identify key patterns and themes. We discuss findings across seven key themes: Family; Acculturation; Employment and education; Gender roles and power; Marital relationships; Coping; and Formal support services. Acculturation experiences of Iranians significantly impact their marital satisfaction, revealing both positive and negative consequences. This study highlights the importance of providing culturally sensitive support services that are tailored to the unique experiences of Iranian migrant couples, especially in addressing their challenges after migration. Addressing these complexities can improve their marital satisfaction and overall well-being. The findings of the current review suggest that incorporating gender-specific approaches in counseling and support services could be particularly beneficial for this population.
