Abstract

Fox, Mem (1946-), widely known Australian writer of picture books, storyteller, and literacy consultant. Born Merion Frances Partridge in Melbourne, Fox grew up in Zimbabwe, attended drama college in London, and returned to Australia in 1970, settling in Adelaide. She worked as a storyteller, drama teacher, and college tutor, meanwhile completing tertiary studies (including children's literature and language arts). As an associate professor in the school of education at Flinders University in Adelaide, she specialized in literacy education.
