Abstract

Neurology and its components are of particular concern in emergency medicine. Neurological insult or injury is implicated in over 50% of deaths occurring due to trauma (Cameron et Al., 2009). Stroke as an isolated condition is the third leading cause of death among Mãori and non-Mãori New Zealanders Both the short- and long-term effects of stroke contribute to significant physical, psychological and social limitations. Rapid identification and management can improve morbidity/mortality and quality of life.
