Abstract

We simulate the multiple scattering effects occurring in an (e,2e) experiment for a free-electron solid. Realistic cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering events are used, for all the electrons involved. The aim of this paper is to simulate a real (e,2e) experiment, and investigate how the multiple scattering parameters used affect the relation between the electronic structure of the solid and the actually measured intensity. Good agreement is found, on a semiquantitiative level, between the simulations and the actual experiments.
