Abstract
The Royal Commission into Early Childhood Education and Care recommended “legislation for a new universal child development data system”. It was acknowledged that the development of such a system would require the appropriate ethical and legal frameworks to support appropriate use of the data.
To support the development of this data system, Preventive Health SA, Flinders University Caring Futures Institute and Office for the Early Years undertook some preliminary research to identify what national and international jurisdictions are doing in relation to delivery and data processes for Child Health and Development Checks. The outcome of this research has resulted in the recommendations and identifying key barriers for establishing a South Australian Child Development Data System.
