Abstract

There was limited literature on Netball modifications for juniors across the scholarly, peer-reviewed, and grey literature found in the search. However, insights from other invasion games such as Basketball, Handball, Australian Football (AFL), and Association football (Soccer) were found to inform Netball. Modifications to junior Basketball provide potential direction for adaptations in Netball, however, the literature on adaptations in Soccer is extensive and evaluates the effective of the body scaling approach. Practical recommendations included in this literature include developing appropriate modifications in each age group, developing inclusive guidelines for all individuals, and ensuring these guidelines are well-supported and evaluated by research. Additionally, the research suggests that consideration should be given to modified contact rules and altered scoring systems that are less strict and more rewarding for younger players. Following the body scaling approach to adjust court size, net height, and adapting ball size is beneficial.
