Abstract
The article suggests that nutrition education and student empowerment in schools may play significant roles in ensuring that health-enhancing eating behavior is practiced into adulthood. It recommends that nutrition education and food literacy should provide students the knowledge and skills as well as encourage behavior consistent with a healthy diet. The article also concludes that Australian school teachers must be given support to implement nutrition education and cooking skills into their lesson plans.
