Abstract
A proof of the result due to Glowinski, Lions and Tremolieres on the time estimate for start-up of pipe flows in a Bingham fluid is presented. This result states that the norm of the unsteady flow approaches that of the steady flow exponentially, with the density and viscosity of the fluid, and the lowest eigenvalue of the Laplacian over the cross-section of the pipe playing significant roles.
