Abstract
Ophthalmic surgery has changed considerably in recent years. Eye surgery is safer, more reliable, and more effective. The author reviews the major changes in the surgical treatment of cataract and refractive disorders, and discusses laser therapy, which continues to advance in a spectacular fashion.
