Abstract
Commentary:
The article ‘Exploring stakeholders’ views on medical education research: a national survey’ by Dennis et al.,1 published in this issue, is a welcome reminder of the importance of medical education research being connected to both educational and clinical practice. It is clear that our discipline does not operate in a vacuum and thus differs fundamentally from other scientific disciplines such as theoretical physics or mathematics. We doubt you would be able to find a similar paper exploring stakeholders’ views of what research in mathematics or theoretical physics should study in the near future – at least we were unable to find any such item!
