Outdoor Education - a necessary part of school PE

    Research output: Other contributionpeer-review

    Abstract

Outdoor education is difficult to define. Is it a sub discipline of physical educatio like dance, sport, athletics, swimming, aquatics and gymnastics, and therefore an essential element of all quality, comprehensively constructed, inclusive physical education curriculum? Is it a separate subject discipline which therefore competes for curriculum time and space? It has been suggested (Tinning et al 2001) that Australian physical education curriculum is too focused on sport with a corresponding emphasis on skill and movement performance.
