Abstract

Resorcin[4]arenes in the C2h symmetry chair conformation, containing 16 O-centers, (OH)16-n(OMe)n, n=0, 4 and 8, as potential hydrogen-bonding sites, have each been prepared in one reaction from readily available starting materials; solvation in the solid, n=4 and 8, is at the expense of any inter-resorcin[4]arene interactions.
