Parallels

This is a collaboration with one of the leading global practitioners in the field of ambient music: Steve Roach, twice nominated for a Grammy Award, from the US, whose work has had a huge impact on my own writing and music since the 1990s. Steve and I have shared interests in creative partnerships and high quality outputs that reach the widest possible audiences, alongside using evolving (and quite different, respectively) compositional and production techniques to create work that resonates with listeners on a number of levels. Parallels began as a series of tonal works I shared with Steve, and to which he added transformative layers and other elements. I added spatialised nuances, and we produced the album together. The entirety of this album was composed online, without any physical meeting, and the themes of the album reflect that sense of physical separation while yet meeting through other means.
