Abstract

The University of Newcastle created a Digital Capabilities Portal, which includes a self-assessment tool so that individuals can assess the levels of their digital capabilities, upskill where necessary, and keep track of their own progress. Their framework was built using Jisc’s six elements of building digital capability, around the pillars of equity and employability. These six elements are: Information Communication Technology (ICT); Proficiency and Productivity; Digital Learning and Development; Digital Creation, Problem Solving and Innovation; Digital Communication, Collaboration and Participation; Information Literacy, Data Literacy and Media Literacy; and Digital Identity and Wellbeing.
