Abstract

Climate Policy Integration refers to the critical process of a government integrating climate change considerations into all aspects of its policymaking. The way we choose what we eat and how we build our homes are just two examples of how our actions can have significant impacts on climate. Changing these behaviours to mitigate our impact on climate requires governments to set up the right conditions for consumers and businesses to be more sustainable. This requires policymakers to consider climate effects as part of an integrated policymaking process in non-energy and non-environmental policy domains. Not taking climate considerations into account in all areas seriously impairs a government’s ability to successfully mitigate and adapt to climate change.
