Abstract
Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid) is a common cause of chronic ocular discomfort and irritation. The meibomian glands in the eyelids are often diseased when blepharitis is present, and other dermatological conditions may coexist. Effective treatment usually requires local and systemic measures that need to be repeated at intervals.
