Abstract

Adult rural Australians suffer substantial health‐related disadvantage compared with urban counterparts. Physical activity‐based cardiac rehabilitation (CR) (outpatient Phase II) leads to improved behavioural outcomes, including better quality of life, enhanced function and longer survival. The success of CR rests on a person's ability to maintain the behavioural changes in the long term (maintenance Phase III).
