Abstract
The man in whose honour we meet - Charles Marshall - has a very strong claim to be considered as a great South Australian. He deserves that title and our gratitude chiefly because of his pioneering contributions to radiography in this state, but also because of more than 40 years of dedication to his profession and its role in providing an increasingly sophisticated diagnostic and therapeutic tool in medicine. At a time when personal aggrandizement and transient notoriety seems dominant it is salutory to consider the life of someone whose dedication to technical precision and innovation has realised tangible improvements in such a fundamental social good as medicine.
