Abstract

Queens of Noise may not be so different from “rock chicks”: a popular terminology that refers to women who work in and are fans of rock music. As I discuss in this chapter, though, the rock chick is a complex persona rooted in histories of a misogynist rock music industry and brings with it certain expectations of aesthetics and behaviors that may never have served women in rock music, especially today.
