Abstract

We read with interest the study by Kurteva et al that characterized multiple factors associated with increased risk of persistent opioid use after cardiothoracic surgery. Given the importance of opioids and other analgesics around cardiothoracic surgery, when adverse reactions (AR) are present, patient outcomes may be affected.
