Abstract
We read with interest the survey results of the medical oncology services in Victoria by Collins et al. highlighting the need for the medical oncology workforce in Australia to meet current and future demands and the need to monitor workforce activity.
We agree with the authors that the annual new consultations per full-time equivalent (FTE) consultant metric used in the report is no longer sufficient to inform workforce planning.
