Abstract

The overall objective of this project is to determine the changes in recharge which occur as a result of clearing native Mallee (Eucalyptus spp.) vegetation for agricultural production, and their effect on the flow of saline groundwater to the River Murray. The drilling described in this report was undertaken specifically to determine the importance of localised (point source) recharge in the landscape. The holes are located beneath mallee (Eucalyptus spp.) vegetation and on land which is currenly used for dryland cropping or grazing. Samples were analysed for water content, chloride, matric suction, and particle size. -from Authors
