Abstract
A relativistic quantum mechanics (RQM) on the light-front (LF) is derived from quantum field theory (QFT) through the use of a unitary transformation. Cluster separability of the derived RQM is proved by solving the so-called decoupling equation for the disconnected parts of the unitary transformation relating the Poincaré generators of RQM to the ones of QFT. For processes involving baryon-like number conservation (NN → NN, Nd → Nd, etc.), we show that the two theories, RQM and QFT, are equivalent.
