Abstract
Dear editor-in-chief, we read with interest the correspondence by Baudouin and Simon [1] focusing on the identification of two cases of earlobe crease in Piero di Cosimo (1416–1469), also known as “Piero the Gouty”, and Pope Leo X (1475–1521). Both were members of the Medici family and their portrayals are coeval. The ad verum approach used for their depiction makes them a useful source for iconodiagnosis [2].
