Abstract

Reviews are a popular feature of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. Indeed, a kind reader recently sent me a letter praising our 2020 special issue of reviews on systemic disease as ‘by far the best publication of your journal yet’. These scholarly articles also receive a lions share of the journal's annual citations. Reviews that comprehensively synthesise the literature provide an important educational function, as well as sharing multiple perspectives, airing controversies and reconciling results of different studies...
