Abstract
The opening of the new Federal Parliament indicated the manner in which Kevin Rudd intends to make reconciliation happen. That is, through bipartisan endorsement, however reluctantly garnered, and by obtaining the support of the wider Australian public. The events surrounding the apology to the Stolen Generations allow some insight into both the man and his vision.
