Simulated material property degradation during fatigue of human cancellous bone, as modelled by a regular honeycomb structure

Abstract

The material degradation property of human cancellous bone was studied. The cellular structure of the cancellous bone was studied using a honeycomb structure. The model simulated the compressive fatigue using finite element analysis (FEA). It was found that material degradation was limited to four localized regions around the areas of peak stresses.
