Abstract
In 2018/19, Cancer Council NT designed and implemented a resilience-based tobacco prevention education program titled ‘Smoking-Just Don’t Start’ (SJDS). The school-based program described in this report was part of the initial design phase, and was conducted in partnership with the Stars Foundation in 2018/19. The SJDS program was designed to provide secondary-school level education on tobacco smoking, to affect attitudes towards smoking and adulthood uptake of smoking behaviour. The program was designed for rural youth in Katherine, Northern Territory, using a personal strengths-based approach.
