Abstract

To the Editor:

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) severity can vary markedly from night to night, which can yield inaccurate diagnoses in ∼20% of patients and is an independent predictor of adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Despite well-established insights into variations in sleep patterns across the week (i.e., weekend catch-up sleep and social jet lag), no study has evaluated day-of-week differences in OSA severity. Here, we investigate changes in OSA severity across days of the week, leveraging objective sleep data from more than 70,000 users of an under-mattress home OSA monitor.
