N2 - Some 220 cases of traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) due to external causes were reported to the Australian Spinal Cord Injury Register (ASCIR) for 2011–12. Unlike previous years reports, Falls were the leading mechanism of injury for traumatic SCI cases sustained during 2011–12, at 45%. Land transport crashes accounted for 38% of traumatic SCI.
