Abstract
In this 2015 film by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, the despair that afflicts a widow after her husband drowns at sea is supplanted by the absurdity of his return, three years later, from a watery grave. Nicholas Godfrey dives into this droll, dark story and expounds on the filmmaker's fascination with grief, ghosts and going forward following death.
