Abstract

There is little discernible change in technology throughout the Holocene, either on Kangaroo Island or the southern end of South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula. There is, however, considerable diversity at the level of individual sites, which may be interpreted in terms of local environmental characteristics, raw materials, technology, and functional variability of the stone artefact assemblages. It is at this level that evolutionary changes in the hunting and gathering lifestyle of local Aboriginal people are likely to be recorded. -J.Sheail
