Abstract

Polymer layers templated around [Co(C2B9H11)2]- (1) counter ions are one of the structural features of the two-dimensional coordination polymer obtained in crystalline form from Na-1 and cyclotriveratrylene (CTV). In solution the [Na(CTV)]1(CF3CH2OH)0.25 coordination polymer breaks up and [Na(n)(CTV(m)](n+) clusters are present in the gas phase and can complex one or two [Co(C2B9H11)1 ions.
