Abstract
Transportation mega projects in developing countries typically demand extensive financial, material, and human resources; however, the development is frequently impeded by funding constraints, fragmented supply chains, and inadequate regulatory frameworks. The aim of this study is to explore the critical barriers to sustainable resource allocation within such projects. The study uses a qualitative methodology that includes literature review, expert interviews, and case study analysis. Initial results indicate that limited institutional capacity, the absence of sustainable procurement mechanisms, and a continued dependence on conventional economic models present significant obstacles to progress. Furthermore, the analysis highlights on insufficient stakeholder engagement and political instability serve to compound existing inefficiencies in resource distribution. Expert interviews further identified potential solutions, notably the application of innovative financing instruments, the integration of technology for resource optimization, and targeted policy reforms. Overall, the findings underscore the imperative of adopting a holistic approach to resource governance that aligns economic viability with environmental responsibility and social equity; in which paves the way for more resilient and effective mega transport projects in emerging economies.
