Abstract
Successful implementation of innovations into clinical practice is challenging and time-consuming. To address this, multiple frameworks have been developed to plan, guide and evaluate implementation. The i-PARIHS framework outlines that successful implementation involves the facilitation of the innovation, context and recipients. Facilitation is a multifaceted approach involving skilled individuals, who enable others through a multitude of efforts, to address challenges in implementation. Despite its wide use, the framework has been criticised for lacking operational detail on how to facilitate in practice1. Therefore, this project explores how conversation analysis3 might be useful to operationalise the “black box” of facilitation as an interactional achievement.
