Teaching and assessing reflexive practice as a core cultural safety capability: what can we learn from student reflexive assessments?

Abstract

Introduction/Background
Cultural safety is now an accreditation and registration requirement for health professional
education and practice (Ahpra & National Boards, 2020), and is increasingly being included
in health sciences programs. Reflexivity is considered a core cultural safety capability, yet
what this looks like in practice is not well articulated and there is little guidance on best
practice approaches to teaching and learning (Dawson et al, 2022).
