Abstract
What do youth want from sport?
The drivers of adolescents to start practicing sports in a certain club are family, age group, friends, proximity to sports facilities, teammates, and club conditions.
During adolescence, pursuing an active and healthy life becomes a choice. Youth make a choice amongst alternatives to play or not to practice and play sport. the motivations are:
•The desire to affiliate with others;
•The opportunity to spend time with family members;
•The aesthetic quality of sport;
•The pleasant stress (i.e., eustress) that accompanies sport;
•Escape from other aspects of life;
•Role models; and,
•Excitement (fun)
